The annual Wooli Hotel Snapper Comp is on again commencing with registration on Friday the 6th August 2021 up until 10.30pm at the hotel. The fishing times will be run from Saturday the 7th of August 6.00am to 5.00pm to Friday 13th August, 2021 (fishing times on Friday cease at 3pm). The competition will be fished between Sandon River (Southern Headland at the river entrance along a line due east) and Arrawarra Headland (Northern point along a line due east).

A Presentation dinner will follow the final day’s fishing.

Prior registration is available using the attached registration  forms for the Skipper of the boat, Skippers registration form 2021   or Crew members, Crew registration form 2021 accompanied by the registration fee of $110.00 ( reduced to $110.00 if paid by 6th August 2021.

Forms may be printed from this website by highlighting the relevant form and clicking on it. They can be emailed with credit card details for payment to woolihotel@hotmail.com, however please note registration is not complete until a return acknowledgement email is received and payment finalised.

As always the competition is catch and release.

1. Conditions of Entry
1.1. Skippers and crew are to be paid anglers – no exceptions
1.2. Entries close 10.30pm Friday 6th August 2021
1.3. All entrants agree to abide by the competition rules
1.4. Vessel Registration forms must be fully completed and returned with the entry forms
1.5. All entrants must have a valid NSW Fishing Licence or be eligible for exemptions under regulations.
1.6. All skippers of vessels must have a current NSW Maritime Boat Licence or an interstate Boat Licence recognised by NSW Maritime
1.7. All vessels that go to sea must log on with Marine Rescue Wooli
1.8. Each individual skipper is responsible for the safety of their vessel and crew

2. Entry Fee
2.1. Entry fee is $110 per person or $110 if paid before 10.30pm on the 6th August 2021
2.2. Entry fee must accompany the nomination and vessel registration form

3. Competition Boundaries
3.1. The competition will be fished between Sandon River (Southern Headland at the river entrance along a line due east) and Arrawarra Headland (Northern point along a line due east)
3.2. Competitors please be aware of Marine Park Sanctuary Zones

4. Competition Rules and Guidelines

4.1. Competition is for catch and release only
4.2. Use digital camera and brag mat to capture clear photo or video showing the length of fish
4.3. Use digital camera or phone to show clear video of fish being released
Release video must be within 5 minutes of brag mat photo
4.4. The fish needs to be placed on the mat so the snout is placed on the hard plastic end and the tail is presented spread so the total length measurement on the mat can be clearly seen. Measurement is to the V in the tail.
4.5. Photos must contain the daily token to be eligible
4.6. Any fish presented must comply with NSW Fisheries Legislation
4.7. Each day all vessels going to sea must provide the following information to Marine Rescue Wooli
Snapper comp number, name of vessel, number of persons on board, nominated time of return and area of operation (please ensure all vessels comply with Waterways safety regulations)
4.8. All vessels must log on each day before exiting Wooli River or Minnie Water Bay and Log off when returning to Wooli River and Minnie Water Bay with Marine Rescue Wooli
4.9. Wooli and Minnie Water are the only two places at which entrants may launch their vessel for the purpose of fishing the competition
4.10. Failure of any vessel to comply with the above rules shall result in all competitors aboard that vessel being disqualified from presenting any fish on that day
4.11. Fishing times will be from 6am to 5pm daily. Last day (Friday 13th August) will be 6am to 3pm
4.12. Any person or persons caught cheating or failing to log on and/or off will be disqualified


5. Cancellation of Competition Procedure

5.1. The competition Director has the authority to cancel any or all competitions days if conditions are deemed to be too dangerous for offshore fishing
5.2. The decision of the Competition Director in relation to this matter will be final
5.3. Procedure:
5.3.1. A red flag/sign will be placed at each launch point – Wooli Boat Ramp and Minnie Water Bay which will indicate that competition is cancelled for that day
5.3.2. Should completion for that day be cancelled no competition registered vessels or entrants may put to sea or fish
5.3.3. Skipper unsure if cancellation has taken affect must contact the Competition Director

6. Disputes Committee

6.1. A competition disputes committee consisting of five persons is formed prior to the commencement of the competition
6.2. Any disputes shall be put forward in writing and tabled with the chair of the committee prior to the end of fishing each day

7. Presentation and Prizes

7.1. There will be three major cash prizes
1st Prize Largest Snapper – longest snapper
2nd Prize Largest Snapper – second longest snapper
3rd Prize Largest Snapper – third longest snapper
Daily random length prizes
7.2. Minor Daily cash prizes for random length catch and release
7.3. Nightly lucky door prizes will be a refund of Competition fees
7.4. Presentation and dinner night will be held at the Wooli Hotel at no charge to paid anglers and immediate families
Time 7pm Friday 13th August (Drinks not included)
